Most women of age 30 and more suffer from the Polycystic Ovary Disease (PCOD). This condition mostly affects the hormone levels in women. Women suffering with Polycystic syndrome produce more than normal amount of male hormones, and greater insulin levels (a hormone level that helps adjust blood sugar). Women with this syndrome lead to various small cysts, hormonal imbalance and fluid filled sacs grows inside the ovary. PCOD is one of the most common disorders in women without any particular treatment. ‘Polycystic’ means several cysts on the ovary. However, a woman having cysts does not mean she has PCOD and having PCOD doesn’t mean that she has cysts on her ovaries.
                Polycystic Ovary Disease is root of various health issues which include sleep apnea, menstrual cycle irregularity, infertility, type 2 diabetes, depression, endometrial cancer, high cholesterol, metabolic syndrome, hair thinning, obesity, hypertension, excessive growth of facial hair and acne. ·         Diets which include anti-inflammatory properties, like leafy greens, berries, extra virgin olive oil and fatty fish may reduce the inflammation related harms like fatigue.
·         Human body digests nutrients with low GI diet (glycemic index) diet gradually. Hence, low GI diets do not rise the insulin levels like diet with carbohydrates. Whole grain, starchy vegetables, nuts, seasonal fruit, seeds, unprocessed and low carbs food, legumes, etc. are low GI diets.
·         Increase fruit and vegetables and avoid dairy products (as dairy products increase insulin level) in your daily diet.

·         Several dieticians recommend the nutritional styles to avoid hypertension diet (DASH) to control PCOD and its symptoms. A diet includes poultry products, fruit, green vegies, low fat dairy products and fish.
·          Sugary beverages, refined carbs, red meat, processed meat and Solid fats are foods to avoid.

PolyCystic Ovary Disease (PCOD) treatment normally starts with healthy lifestyle such as running, exercise and diet. Women with healthy weight can reduce the risks of heart disease and diabetes and, improve cholesterol and insulin levels. The treatment of this disease is not yet specified, but, one can control its symptoms like hirsutism, acne, obesity and infertility.
You can control the PCOD by stopping its main symptoms like insulin resistance, hormonal disorder and infertility.
